Meet Margie Jordan
Margie Jordan loves Martin Country and is thrilled to be part of this community, although she knows there is a dark side to our state. "Florida is one of the top three states in the country for human trafficking," she says.

Margie works with the non-profit
Redeem The Shadows (RTS), a non-profit organization that
combats human trafficking through awareness, prevention, rescue, and eventually rehabilitation.
"Many people don't understand what constitutes human trafficking," explains Margie. "They think it is only for sex. But human trafficking is when anyone is forced to do labor, provide sex, housekeeping, or any other service without pay, through coercion, torture, or imprisonment. Most victims of human trafficking are under 18 years of age. They are runaways or are picked up at malls. A victim can be an in-house nanny or a laborer in the field. Many workers at nail salons are victims of human trafficking. Some families even sell their own children into slavery or bondage."
Margie and others from Redeem The Shadows help educate the public about these forms of human trafficking through special presentations available for schools, clubs, and other organizations.
Margie's Personal Mission
Marge says her grandmother taught her to always serve people in need. And helping others is something we can all do. "Jesus was always there to help others have a better life. People just need a hand up."
